Inherited cancer risk

Antevion Family

Planned

Antevion Family is designed to follow a sentence that suggests genetic testing, from the tumour report to the genetics service and on to the relatives who are tested. It will never interpret a variant, and outside the genetics service it will hold counts only.

Planned products are plans, not current operations. Each will be subject to its own regulatory review before any pilot.

The gap

What it addresses

A tumour report can point to an inherited risk. Antevion Family is designed to give it a named owner.

Two questions follow: whether the patient reaches genetics, and whether their relatives are tested. Antevion Family is designed to make both someone's named task. The sentence that starts the pathway sits in a pathology or oncology report.

Workflow

How it is designed to work

  1. Will quote the specialist

It will quote, as written, the pathology or oncology sentence that suggests genetic testing, and never interpret a variant.

  2. Will give the referral an owner

The referral will have a named owner, and proof, confirmed by a person, that the patient reached the genetics service.

  3. Will count relatives, never name them

The genetics service will record relatives tested; outside it, Antevion will hold counts only.

  4. One measure a health system can use

It will report relatives tested per patient found, by health unit and hereditary syndrome.

Example

From a tumour report to relatives tested

Illustrative example

Quoted sentence

Achados sugestivos de síndrome hereditária; recomenda-se consulta de Genética Médica.

Quoted from the signed pathology report, as written. Translation: “Findings suggestive of a hereditary syndrome; a medical genetics appointment is recommended.”

What is recorded

  1. Referral Medical genetics, named owner
  2. Genetics appointment Confirmed by a person
  3. Relatives tested Count only
Relatives' genetic data
Stay in the genetics service
Illustrative example with fictitious data. It does not represent a real patient, clinician or hospital. The sentence and service are fictional. No relative is named and no variant is shown.

Guardrails

Its guardrails

It will be built within these limits.

  • It will never interpret a variant, and will make no risk estimate.
  • Relatives' genetic data will stay in the genetics service.
  • Outside the genetics service, it will hold counts only and never name relatives.
  • A person will confirm each step.
  • A separate regulatory review before any pilot.

Designed for

Hospitals and their genetics services, and the health units where relatives are cared for.

Same core

Every Antevion product is designed on the same core: it quotes what a clinician wrote, gives it an owner and proves whether it happened. It never generates an interval or a verdict; a person decides.
